Great Italian food in nyc! The ravioli was especially delish. It is a very vibrant atmosphere.

One of my favorite spots in the city to take guests because it's good, old school Italian with a good, lovely atmosphere. And they take credit cards now!! Good, solid Italian. And the staff is always working hard and is so friendly. I often call for reservations Mon/Tues before the weekend and can usually secure a good time. They'll often call that day to confirm the reservation Slightly squished and a little loud for older crowds but great for groups and dinner w/ friends. The chicken cutlet is lightly breaded and DREAMY! Burrata was a good portion. Also love any of their pastas and that they serve yummy focaccia pieces ahead of the meal

The food was very good. The portions for the gnocchi were very small. I was still hungry after. The prices are ok. You can't make reservations on the web but you can call and make reservations. The place is small.

Met up with a native who adores this restaurant & it was very apparent why. Lowkey, intimate, and absolutely delicious. A great spot to meet up with friends, have juicy conversation, & catch up on lost years all while enjoying drinks & food. Pasta was fresh, bread was the perfect warm & soft with a little bite. Everyone was incredibly attentive in making sure our experience was top tier. A great start to a great night!

Came in today on a whim. Decided to take myself on a date and I passed up a ton of really cool restaurants on my way here, but I was determined to set out for the address I originally put into my maps. Once I arrived to Malatesta it was incredibly packed. Being as shy as I am I almost walked out, but right before I turned back around someone set me up at a table. I was like "ok, cool." Seeing as it was super cold out it particularly nice to feel the crowd around me. Not only was it warm but the staff (EVERYONE) was so kind AND THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS (ordered the pear salad, ravioli, and crème brûlée for dessert). *Also side note: I was sat at a small table near the entrance and while eating I had a direct view of the hostess with the short bangs ( I swear this is not at all meant to be creepy, tbh I was on IG most of the time). But woah this hostess was ON HERGAME ...she was constantly marking things on her clipboard, answering phone calls, and greeting people as they came, and rearranging tables...it was so impressive to watch. I feel like she could be a whole event planner. Anyway, here's my review nobody asked for. I'll for sure be back and bringing friends next time! -Alicia

Great dinner spot with delicious food and affordable prices! No reservations here, but my friend and I were seated immediately. The hosts and wait staff were friendly, and the bussers were extremely attentive in making sure our dining experience was clean! Low lighting. Small space and a bit of a squeeze, but worth it for the food and service. I got the Spinach Gnocchi and would definitely recommend. The sauce was flavorful, as was the gnocchi, which had a great texture. Was perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming back here!

What a lovely experience!! You can make reservations for 4+ people but there's always more walk in availability than reservation spots. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. The prices were reasonable and the overall experience was great with super friendly staff. There is only wine on the menu for drinks, but you can get glasses, carafes and bottles. The food menu is great with a set of daily specials. With our group of 4, we got a few appetizers and also chose the spinach gnocchi as an app to share (!!!) and it was amazing!! Also recommend the tagliatelle. The homemade pastas are delightful. There's a small % fee if you pay with a card, but they do take card now!

Visited this place with a friend for dinner this week. It's a cute restaurant, with both outdoor and indoor seating. It's a bit tight, but that's normal for NYC. The menu is extremely veggie friendly. So many options and the service was great. Our server kept running into my chair, which was a bit annoying. Wish he was a bit careful walking instead of running into me all the time. The bread they gave was too good. I ate like 6-7 pieces of that bread. Amazing! We ordered the following: - Penne Arabiata: this was so good. I absolutely loved it. The flavor and seasoning were just amazing. - Spinach Gnocchi: a bit creamy, but so delicious. Perfect portion size as well. Overall, loved the vibe, restaurant, and the food. Definitely recommend if you are looking for some amazing pasta.

Found this place when looking for an Italian spot on the west side and i'm so glad I went! It's a cute little casual restaurant that's great for a date night or a dinner with friends. We got the tagliatelle ragu ($17) and spaghetti chitarra ($16). They both tasted very fresh and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I did wish both dishes were seasoned a little bit more as it was more on the bland side, but it still tasted fine. I would personally get the tagliatelle again over the spaghetti as it had more depth to it. I felt the service was pretty quick and the waiters were decently attentive. However, there was one waiter who consistently seemed very annoyed from the second he interacted with us all the way to the end, but it could have been an off day. Overall, I recommend coming here especially if you're craving some pasta.

A cute little Italian restaurant with Al fresco dining and a patio seating. Came on a Sunday afternoon with lovely weather, perfect for brunch. The price is reasonable for the food. We decided to get two appetizers and two pastas. The waiter seemed less than enthused to take our orders, so if you're looking for top notch service this ain't it. But for a nice casual lunch it's great. - Bruschetta: Cut into 4 pieces. I usually don't get bruschetta but this was really nice and refreshing with the basil, tomatoes, and light seasoning. - Grilled calamari: Excellent! I really enjoyed this, the calamari had a nice light char to it and was well cooked. Served on a bed of lettuce. - Tagliatelle Ragú: We enjoyed this for the meat sauce. Great pasta as well - Spinach Gnocchi: Comes with a cheesy cream based sauce that slightly tasted like blue cheese. The gnocchi were soft and paired well with the cream. I'm not a huge fan of gnocchi but this is one of their more popular dishes. They have several specials but I don't think they serve it at lunch? Or perhaps we came at a time when there's nothing on the special menu. But some of the photos on Yelp were special items and were no longer available.
